This watch is in excellent condition in all respects - a great one for your collection. It is Hamilton's premier 23 jewel, 16 size watch with, in my opinion, the most beautiful 16 size movement they made.
Movement: The 23 jewel, 16 size, pendent setting movement has ornate damaskeening, a gold gear train, gold jewel settings, and gold balance screws. It runs with strong motion and keeps good time. It is marked Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Pa., 950, 23 Jewels, Motor Barrel, and Adjusted 5 Positions. The serial number on the movement is 1152844 which dates it to about 1914.
Case: The movement is housed in an ornate yellow gold filled case marked Fahys, "Warranted to Wear Permanently". There are no significant dents or scratches and no wear through (brassing) of the gold fill. The outside of the back cover has the initials BED (I think) and the inside dust cover has the name BE Ditehig (I think). The ornate/fancy engraving is very difficult to read so I could be wrong about the inscriptions.
Dial: The dial is a double sunk porcelain type with bold Arabic numbers surrounded by red color five minute markers. It has excellent eye appeal and appears flawless - I don't even see any hairlines.
Hands and Crystal: The dial is complimented with a set of Spade and Pointer style hands and a glass crystal. Both the hands and crystal are in excellent condition.
The watch measures 50 mm in diameter, not counting the stem and bow.
